How Did PSY Shake the World with “Gangnam Style”? — What His Saju Without Expression Stars Reveals

Sp 25

When I Heard the Word “Fate,” PSY Came to Mind

A few days ago, I was watching TV when I saw PSY speaking seriously about his life.
At that moment, one thought crossed my mind:

“What kind of fate was this man born with?”

I’ve always enjoyed observing people.
Whenever someone stands out with something unique,
I often turn to the Four Pillars of Destiny (Saju) to understand why.

And PSY was no exception.
As I looked into his life—
I realized that, just like the rest of us,
he too couldn’t completely escape the cycle of fate.

Sp 7

Funny on the Outside, But Somehow Sad on Stage

There was a time when PSY, with his humorous looks and exaggerated performances,
burst into the spotlight.
That image of him still lingers clearly in my memory.

His dances seemed designed to make people laugh,
yet his movements on stage felt
bizarre—almost painfully expressive.

It didn’t feel like just an act or a showbiz concept.
It looked like he was expressing his very existence with his whole body.

Sp 9

The Man Who Served Twice — And the Weight of Injustice

When I found out that PSY had served in the military twice,
I couldn’t help but feel a bit heartbroken.

Many other celebrities had faced similar draft controversies at the time,
but only PSY was forced to re-enlist due to a legal challenge brought by the prosecution.

Why was that?
Was it simply a matter of legal procedure?
Or was something deeper at play—
something shaped by fate itself?

Sp 6

And Then, Just a Few Years Later… “Gangnam Style” Happened

A few years later,
PSY released the now-legendary track “Gangnam Style,”
which became a global phenomenon, shaking the world far beyond Korea.

His horse-riding dance, his quirky voice,
and his bizarre yet infectious energy
became a powerful ignition point for K-POP’s international rise.

But I couldn’t help but ask:

Was this worldwide success really just about talent?
Or was it the result of a greater flow of destiny?

Sp 24

Opening the Door to Saju

Before diving into the full story,
let’s pause for a moment and go over the basics of Saju (Four Pillars of Destiny).

Because within PSY’s birth chart,
you’ll find plenty of clues and energetic patterns
that help explain the life he has lived so far.

Sp 8

🌱 The Five Elements Are Not Nouns — They Are the Flow of Energy

In Four Pillars of Destiny (Saju),
the concept of the Five Elements (Oh-Haeng, 五行) is commonly known as:

Wood (木), Fire (火), Earth (土), Metal (金), and Water (水)
or symbolically, tree, fire, soil, iron, and water.

Because of these literal words,
many people mistakenly understand the Five Elements
as fixed substances or static nouns.

But it is right at this point
that the essence of the Five Elements starts to be misunderstood.

Sp 10

The Five Elements Are Verbs, Not Nouns

The Five Elements are not static things.
They represent movement, interaction, and transformation of energy.
In that sense, they are much closer to verbs than nouns.

“So… are you saying wood moves and metal is alive?”

Of course not.
It is not the object itself that moves—
but the Qi (氣), the invisible energy flowing within and around it.

Ancient philosophers, unable to describe this intangible energy,
borrowed metaphorical names from nature
like ‘wood’, ‘fire’, ‘earth’, ‘metal’, and ‘water’
to symbolize different patterns of energy.

In other words,
the Five Elements do not describe physical materials—
they represent the qualities and flows of energy in nature.

Sp 11

🔥 The Essence of the Five Elements Is Convection

To understand the Five Elements more deeply,
think about convection in earth science.

When the sun sends warm yang energy (陽氣) to the Earth,
the surface heats up, and warm air rises upward.
That rising energy causes the air to expand,
forming clouds, bringing rain,
and eventually cooling the land back down.

This cycle—
heating, rising, releasing, cooling, and resetting
is what we call convection,
and it mirrors the very structure and flow of the Five Elements.

Sp 12

🔄 The Natural Rhythm of Expansion and Contraction

At the core of convection lies a simple principle:
Expansion and Contraction.

We can map these stages to the Five Elements like this:

  • ☘️ Wood (木): When the ground heats up and energy rises
  • 🔥 Fire (火): When the heat expands outward in all directions
  • 🟤 Earth (土): The middle point where energy slows and stabilizes
  • ⚙️ Metal (金): When the energy cools and begins to descend
  • 💧 Water (水): When cold energy condenses and the cycle completes

So, the Five Elements are not just five objects—
they are a language of natural flow, transformation, and interaction.

They describe how energy moves, reacts, and circulates
in both nature and human life.

And this energy flow is symbolically expressed
through the Ten Heavenly Stems (Cheon-Gan, 天干),
acting as markers of how these forces unfold
in the flow of our personal destiny.

🎭 PSY’s True Nature Was Already Written in His Saju

1. The “Classroom Clown” Born in Gangnam

PSY was born on December 31, 1977,
into a wealthy family in the Gangnam district of Seoul.
He attended Banpo Elementary School, Banpo Middle School, and Sehwa High School—
growing up in the heart of Korea’s upper-class environment.

Sp 19

But despite such a stable and privileged background,
school life never really sparked his interest.

Sp 18

Instead, he was known as the “classroom clown”
a mischievous student who found joy not in grades,
but in making his friends laugh.

He was always at the center of the classroom,
leading the vibe, grabbing attention,
never shy about expressing himself.

Sp 17

PSY once described himself this way:

“I was a noisy boy. I loved being in front of people.”

In class, he was the jokester.
On stage, he became the center of performance.

His ability to make people laugh and draw them in
that may very well have been PSY’s innate nature from the beginning.

Sp 16

Sp 01 En 1

2. A Saju That Reveals His “Direct-Path Expression”

One of the most striking features of PSY’s saju
is the almost complete absence of Wood (木) and Metal (金) energy.

He was born under the Im-Sul (壬戌) Day Pillar,
and his saju is classified as strong (Shin-Gang, 身强),
meaning his inner energy is powerful and independent.

Structurally, his saju flows strongly toward the Wealth Star (재성, Jae-Seong)
positioned in his Year Pillar,
indicating a life path directed toward material creation and results.

Normally, if Wood (木) energy exists in a chart,
it flows smoothly toward Fire (火),
which then naturally connects with the Wealth element.

But in PSY’s case,
there is no Wood in his entire saju.
This causes the energetic flow to break,
resulting in a tendency to move straight ahead,
rather than detour or compromise.

Another notable aspect:
he lacks Metal (金) as well—
which typically represents the Resource Star (印星),
responsible for introspection, learning, and social adaptation.

Without Metal, PSY’s nature becomes even clearer:
he does not concern himself with social expectations or others’ opinions.
He thinks and acts on his own terms,
often expressing his individuality in bizarre yet original ways.

In short,
he is someone who walks his own path—
and does so in a way that no one else dares to imitate.

Sp 14

3. His Stage Persona Is Not an Act—It’s His Destiny

Once we understand PSY’s saju structure,
his eccentric and bold performances,
his refusal to fit into conventional molds—
it all starts to make sense.

These aren’t just branding strategies.
They are the natural manifestations of his destiny.

To put it simply:

“PSY was born that way.”

His stage persona isn’t something crafted for show.
It’s an expression of the energetic structure he was born with
a fate written in the stars.

Sp 18 En 1

💡 What Psy’s K-Bazzi Reveals About His “Golden Timing”

In Saju (K-Bazzi), if someone sets wealth (財, Jae-Seong) as their life’s goal,
then the key is to have supporting energy from knowledge or intellect (印星, In-Seong)—in this case, the element Metal (金).

This is based on the theory of Yin-Yang balance.
From the perspective of wealth, energy must exist in a balanced, interactive structure
to be stable and sustainable.

Seen from this angle, Psy’s Four Pillars are fascinating.
His original Saju chart lacks Metal,
but in his Luck Cycle (大運, Daewoon), the strong flow of Metal energy supports him until the age of 47.

When someone lacks a certain element in their chart,
yet gains that missing energy at the perfect time through the flow of luck,
that’s what we call—
“a person with good fortune.”

Sp 20

🌍 2007: Re-enlistment → 2012: World Star

In 2007, Psy re-entered military service.
And just five years later, in 2012,
he exploded onto the global stage with “Gangnam Style.”

That period corresponds to his Gi-Yu (己酉) Luck Pillar,
which is considered the peak golden phase of his entire life cycle.

But I don’t believe
this sudden rise can be explained by simple logic like:

“He became famous because he re-enlisted.”
“That year had good fortune, so he succeeded.”

That would be a shallow interpretation.

Sp 28 En 1

The Key: A Tipping Point of Energy Imbalance

What truly matters is the Yearly Luck (歲運) around that time.
There was an extreme energy imbalance
a powerful concentration of certain elements.

When energy flows too strongly in one direction,
it can trigger life-altering transformations.

That’s how breakthroughs happen—
not by balance, but by imbalance.

Sp 10 1

⚡ All or Nothing – A Life of Extremes

“Why did Psy have to live such an extreme life?”
That question becomes clearer when you look at his Saju.

If the Four Pillars are structured in extremes,
the life path will inevitably mirror that—
oscillating between soaring highs and crashing lows.

This kind of Saju can be summed up in one phrase:

“All or nothing.”

There’s no middle ground.
Only bold, radical action.

Sp 13

🌄 When Life Flows Forward, Not Backward

Sometimes, on a clear morning
or on days when I feel deeply moved—
I find myself thinking:

“I wish this moment would last forever.”

But moments never stay still.
Life always moves forward.
The next cycle always comes.

People often freeze in moments of happiness,
not realizing how precious they are.
Sometimes, we let joy slip by,
mistaking it for something ordinary.

Sp 21

Today, we briefly looked at Psy’s life
through the lens of K-Bazzi.

And maybe now—
you can imagine how his future might unfold.

When we ask ourselves:

“Why am I different?”
“Why is life like this for me?”

Looking into your own Four Pillars
is not about prophecy—
it’s about discovering the structural answers already within you.

And that realization
might just be your first step
out of the cycle of fate.

Sp 22

🎵 Psy Was Born to Compose

There’s one thing that absolutely must be emphasized:
Psy’s Saju is the Saju of a composer.

His chart has a strong Yin structure,
which means he’s naturally in tune with subtle emotions,
and excels at expressing inner feelings through sound.

Saju with strong Yin energy
often leads to success in composition, creation, and the arts.

So in the next post,
we’ll explore the chart of someone with similar fame
but a very different energy structure—
J.Y. Park (Park Jin-Young).

Let’s take a deeper look
at how two Saju charts
can lead to completely different paths.
