Why Was G-Dragon Framed for Drugs? — A K-Bazi Perspective on an Unfair Case

Gd 1 1

Sometimes, misfortune strikes like a bolt from the blue.
And you find yourself asking, “Why me, of all people?”
It doesn’t make sense, so all that remains is frustration. If it isn’t resolved, it hardens into a lifelong burden — a deep grudge (han, 恨).

The ancient Eastern philosophers didn’t just leave it at that.
They thought, “Life can’t be this unfair. There must be some kind of standard!”
And from that mindset, they created what we now call Saju (K-Bazi).

Many people think of Saju as simply a way to “predict the future,”
but in truth, it’s a much more fascinating tool.
It’s like a measuring device for life that shows us:

  • Who am I really?
  • How far have I strayed from my true path?
  • And how can I return to it? 📏✨

And when we use this tool to look at people one by one?
We find unique personalities, different fates, and hidden injustices —
an endless stream of truly fascinating stories. 🎭

Today, let’s talk about G-Dragon, Kwon Ji-yong.
He’s still rocking the stage with powerful rap and an unmistakable style — truly, the one and only G-Dragon! 🎤🔥

But behind the dazzling spotlight, there have always been shadows of misunderstanding and unfair accusations.
At one point, he faced a drug scandal that made people wonder, “Is this the end?”
Yet he rose again, and now stands tall on the world stage, earning praise like,
“As expected, G-Dragon is G-Dragon.” 🌍✨

So here’s the question:
What has led him down such a difficult, yet extraordinary path?

Today, we’ll dive into G-Dragon’s story of unfair accusations and dramatic comebacks,
and explore the natural talent that made him destined to become an entertainer. 🚀🎶

Gd 3

G-Dragon’s family was his strongest support system.
His father, Kwon Young-hwan, his mother, Han Ki-ran, and his sister, Kwon Dami — now a well-known figure in the fashion industry —
all backed young Ji-yong’s talent, making it feel like a true “family project for music.” 🎹🎤

Thanks to this, Ji-yong was already appearing on TV by age seven, starring on MBC’s Bboong Bboong and even performing as part of the kids’ group Little Roora.
Though the stint was short, it left no doubt: “This kid was born for the stage!” 😎

G 1

At age eight, he became a trainee at SM Entertainment, training for five years.
By twelve, he moved to YG Entertainment, where he earned the trust of CEO Yang Hyun-suk.

At just thirteen, he joined the Korean Hip-Hop Flex album, earning the title of Korea’s youngest rapper.
Later, he teamed up with Taeyang and T.O.P as the unit GDYB,
and was eventually chosen as the leader of BigBang,
marking the beginning of a legend that would forever change K-POP history. 🚀🌍

G 2

Gd 01 En 1

At first glance, G-Dragon (Kwon Ji-yong) may seem like a free-spirited rebel.
But when we look into his Saju (K-Bazi chart), we see that the presence of Jeonggwan (Direct Officer) and Jeongjae (Direct Wealth) makes him surprisingly responsible and rule-oriented.
On stage, he may be a bold, avant-garde genius artist — yet deep inside, he is a serious and principled person.

Thanks to the influence of the Sang-gwan (Hurting Officer) star, he is the type who must constantly create something new.
This explains the endless stream of hit songs and fashion trends he has brought into the world.

G 3

But here’s the twist:
While his creativity is explosive, his flamboyant nature also attracts misunderstandings and unfair scandals.

Looking at his special stars (Shinsal, 神煞), it gets even more fascinating:

  • Yangin-sal: Leadership that dominates the stage
  • Hongyeom-sal: Fatal charm and charisma
  • Baekho-sal: A star that invites crises and incidents
  • Goran-sal: Loneliness behind the glamorous stage

These are often labeled as “inauspicious stars,” but in G-Dragon’s case, they transform into positive forces depending on his life direction and chart structure.

👉 In short:
Genius, charisma, leadership — and even unfair trials — all come as a full package. That’s G-Dragon. 🎶🔥

Gd 6

Here’s something fascinating!
In G-Dragon’s Saju, the Water element (水) doesn’t appear on the surface.
Outwardly, there’s no visible water, but hidden in the Earthly Branches, water is secretly formed through the Sa (巳)–Shin (申) combination and the Shin (申)–Ja (子)–Jin (辰) trine.

This means his chart is one that absolutely needs water.
Only when water flows in does his artistic sensitivity and emotional depth truly come alive. 🎶💧

What’s more, his Heavenly Stems contain the rare Gap–Mu–Gyeong (甲–戊–庚) Samgi (Three Marvels) structure.
This unique alignment greatly expands the capacity of his chart,
empowering him to express creativity and charisma on a much larger stage. 🚀✨

Gd 4

G-Dragon’s chart shows that even in times of crisis, he’s destined to grow stronger.
The secret behind this lies in the special structure known as Cheongan Samgi (Three Heavenly Marvels, 三奇).

Let’s break it down in a fun way:

  • Gap (甲) represents the pre-heaven energy — the fresh beginning of spring. 🌱
  • Gyeong (庚) symbolizes the post-heaven energy — the time of harvest in autumn. 🍂
  • And Mu (戊) acts like a cosmic matchmaker. 😏
→ Standing between Gap and Gyeong, it says: “Hey, don’t fight! I’ll connect spring and autumn for you.”

When these three meet, it creates a structure where spring and autumn coexist, like the revolving motion of the Taiji (太極).

This is what we call Samgi (Three Marvels), and people with this alignment are often gifted with leadership, political and business success, and strong execution power. 🚀✨

🎶 11 Years as a Trainee, and the Beginning of a Legend

G-Dragon spent an incredible 11 years as a trainee
five years at SM Entertainment and six years at YG Entertainment. 😲
That’s long enough for people to joke, “He could’ve retired as a trainee!”

During his SM days, he struggled to find his place.
But then, one day at a friend’s house, he listened to Wu-Tang Clan for the first time — and it changed everything.
“This is it! Hip-hop is my path!”

Soon after, he joined the Hip-Hop Academy run by Jinusean, where he began training seriously as a rapper.
That decision would later become the spark that reshaped the entire K-POP landscape. 🚀

G 4

🚀 2006, The Debut of BigBang!
In 2006, YG Entertainment announced the debut of a “new teenage hip-hop group.”
That group was none other than BIGBANG.

From the moment they debuted, BigBang was a storm —
churning out hit after hit and soaring to the peak of popularity.
And from that point on, the formula became clear:
👉 G-Dragon = Fashion + Music + Charisma 🎤🔥

Gd 7

2011, The Year of Trials
But it wasn’t all smooth sailing.
In May 2011, member Daesung was involved in a tragic car accident on Yanghwa Bridge,
and later that October, G-Dragon was investigated for marijuana use, sparking major controversy.

Gd 8

At the time, rumors spread like wildfire: “Is this the end of BigBang?”
Honestly, their public image took a serious hit during that period.

Looking back at the reports, one thought came to mind:
👉 “Both the fans, and G-Dragon himself, must have felt truly unfairly judged.”

Gd 9

🌍 But Then, Back to the World
Amazingly, the very next year, BigBang made an even bigger comeback.
With their 2012 album Alive and a world tour, they set the entire world on fire with excitement. 🌍🎶

It felt as though hardship had only made them stronger.
G-Dragon isn’t someone who just falls and gets back up.
Instead, every time he falls, he bounces back like a spring — rising even higher. 🚀✨

Gd 10

Gd 27 En 1

In 2018, G-Dragon paused his busy career to fulfill the mandatory military service required of all Korean men.
He enlisted in February that year and was honorably discharged in October 2019 as a sergeant.

Gd 11

However, around the same time, member Seungri’s Burning Sun scandal erupted, leading to BigBang’s activities being effectively put on hold.

Gd 12

Years later, on October 25, 2023, G-Dragon once again found himself at the center of controversy when he was booked without detention on drug-related charges.
The case began when the Incheon Metropolitan Police Agency, while investigating actor Lee Sun-kyun’s allegations, received a tip from a detained nightclub manager claiming that “G-Dragon was also involved.”

Gd 13

Although the police clarified, “It’s still in the early stages and separate from Lee Sun-kyun’s case,” public opinion had already turned against him.
Yet in every subsequent test, G-Dragon tested negative, and on December 14, 2023, he was finally cleared of all charges.

This incident remains one of the clearest examples of witch-hunting fueled by police overreach and hasty public judgment.
For G-Dragon, 2023 was truly a year of lightning out of a clear sky.
He may have been investigated, but with the case closed as not guilty, what lingered most was the frustrating question: “What did I do so wrong to deserve this?”

Gd 14

🔮 2023 Through the Lens of His Saju
From a Saju (K-Bazi) perspective, 2023 was an extremely unfavorable year for G-Dragon.

The Hae Water (亥水) from his Decade Luck combined strongly with the Myo Wood (卯木) of the Annual Luck, clashing with Sa Fire (巳火) and creating a disruptive structure known as Gyeokgak (格角).
As Myo Wood grew excessively strong, it dragged Jeonggwan (Direct Officer) Shin Metal (申金) into the influence of Guimun-gwan-sal (鬼門關殺) and Wonjin-sal (怨嗔殺), causing instability and confusion.

Meanwhile, Jeongjae (Direct Wealth) Jin Earth (辰土) merged with Myo Wood and transformed into Wood (木), losing its role as a stabilizing force.

In short, all the elements that should have kept his balance collapsed, making 2023 a year where external turmoil and unavoidable incidents were bound to erupt.

Gd 15

🌱 The Repeating Shadow of Myo Wood (卯木)
Here’s an interesting observation!
Back in 2011, when G-Dragon faced controversy over the marijuana case, the year also carried the influence of Myo Wood (卯木).

Gd 16

Fast forward to 2023, the Year of Gyemyo (癸卯), and once again he was caught up in another unfair scandal.

Now, it would be wrong to claim: “Whenever Myo Wood appears, trouble will definitely follow.”
However, one pattern is clear:
👉 Each time Myo Wood entered his chart, his balance was significantly disrupted, and that imbalance manifested as external incidents.

Gd 17

💧 The Essential Need for Water (水)

G-Dragon’s Saju is fundamentally a structure that desperately requires Water.
Water is what allows his emotions to flow and his artistic sensitivity to shine. 🎶💧

Some might simply say, “It’s because of Samjae (the three unlucky years).”
Since G-Dragon was born in the Year of the Dragon (辰), his Samjae years are Tiger (寅), Rabbit (卯), and Dragon (辰).
Indeed, both 2011 (the Year of the Rabbit) and 2023 (the Year of Gyemyo, 癸卯) brought him serious controversies, which makes the Samjae explanation sound convincing on the surface.

But the truth is more complex. 🤔

What actually happens is that whenever Myo Wood (卯木) enters his chart, it disrupts the balance.
It shakes his Sang-gwan Sahwa (傷官 巳火, the star of creativity and rebellion), his Jeonggwan Shin-geum (正官 辛金, discipline and responsibility), and his Jeongjae Jin-to (正財 辰土, wealth and stability).
On top of that, because G-Dragon has a Shin-yak (身弱, weak self) chart, the Bigyeon (比肩, friends and peers) that should normally support him instead become destructive, leading to problems in relationships and incidents surfacing publicly.

So the real point is this:
👉 It’s not simply that Samjae or Myo Wood brings disaster,
but rather that his lack of Water prevents his chart from holding balance.
When the flow of Water is blocked, conflict and scandals inevitably arise.

Just like dry earth cracking without rain,
for G-Dragon, Water is his lifeline — the very energy that allows frustration to wash away and his artistry to shine again. ✨🌊

🎉 A Fun Take on Destiny

Some of you reading my post might be thinking:
“Why are there so many Chinese characters and strange terms? My head hurts! 🤯”

I get it. Explanations without logic only make things more confusing.
And many people believe that Saju (K-Bazi) is some incredibly difficult study, but honestly, that’s not true.
You don’t need to know Chinese characters. 🙅‍♂️
As long as you understand the core principles, it all flows naturally — it’s actually quite simple and fun!

So, if I were to give you the ultra-simple version, it comes down to this:
👉 Even if luck tricks you, don’t be afraid and don’t get angry!

When destiny plays tricks, just think like this:
“Hey destiny, do whatever you want. I’ll just keep walking my own path!” 😎✨
